Mission-Philosophy-Goals of ALHS Online
ALHS Online (ALHSO) is an online service provider. ALHSO's primary purpose is to offer online courses that WELS/ELS schools can use to expand their curricular offerings to their students. The majority of students enrolled in ALHSO courses are full-time students at WELS/ELS schools from which they will receive their high school diplomas. ALHSO has a small number of students that are in other non-public schools, home schools, or even public schools.
Mission of ALHS Online
Develop and offer online courses taught from a scriptural perspective which empower WELS/ELS schools to better serve their students through expanded curricular offerings.
Philosophy of ALHS Online
The purpose of ALHS Online (ALHSO) is to support, not supplant, current WELS/ELS schools. Through ALHSO, WELS/ELS schools can share quality online courses and qualified instructors, thus strengthening each school’s individual program of instruction and curriculum. Public and home school students can also enroll in courses to supplement their education.
Goals of ALHS Online
The ALHS Online strives to
- Maintain a partnership with WELS/ELS schools to offer quality online high school courses taught from a scriptural perspective.
- Develop a curriculum which meets the needs of WELS/ELS schools and their students.
- Assemble a cadre of WELS/ELS teachers qualified to teach online courses.
- Offer a series of religion courses for WELS/ELS students enrolled in public or home schools.
- Develop a cost-effective and self-sustaining high quality program.
- Foster continuous improvement through stakeholder input and feedback.
Core Values of ALHS Online
Christ-centered: ALHSO maintains a biblical world-view with Christ as the center of all things. Courses are taught from a scriptural perspective. This perspective is evident in ALHSO publications, course content, and the interactions between participating schools, staff, instructors, parents, and students.
Academic Excellence: ALHSO engages in a mind-set of continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence in its course offerings, instructors, and service to others. Instructors are highly qualified in online instruction and their content area. Courses are held to high standards of online course design and delivery and are reviewed on an annual basis.
Partnership: ALHSO views education as a partnership between participating schools, staff, instructors, parents, and students. All work together to support one another in achieving common goals through open communication and mutual respect.
Professionalism with Humility: The ALHSO administration and instructors are highly qualified for their areas of responsibility. All are mature in their faith and model the example of a servant-leader in their relations with others.
Fiscal Responsibility: ALHSO is built on a solid cost-effective Christian business model that shares resources between WELS schools. This allows ALHSO to keep administrative expenses low and tuition costs stable. Sound Christian business practices are integrated throughout the operations of ALHSO.
ALHS Online is a para-synodical organization in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), one of the largest private school systems in the United States. As such we share in their statement on What We Believe.
